AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING W- SALE OF BEER ON SUNDAY, OR TBE
CBRISTIAN SABBATH AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES,116

BE IT ORDAINED BY IHE CITY COUNCIL OF TBE CITY CF BATESVILLE
ARKANSAS: '
Station 1. It shall be unlawful to sell or be interested in the
sale of beer within the corporate limits of the City of Batesville,
Arkansas, between the hours of 11 o'clock P. r.T. on Saturday and
5 o'clock A, M. of the following Monday,
Section 2. Every person, firm or corporation violating the provisions
of this ordinance shall upon conviction before the Mayor be fined in
any sum not less than ten dollars nor more than twenty-five dollars,
and each sale shall constitute a separate offense.
Section 33, Ordinance No. 5439 approved July 14th, 1936, is hereby
specifically repealed.
Section 4. It appearing that lack of proper restrictions on the sale
of beer is resulting in an undue amount of drunkenness and a general
desecration of the Christian Sabbath, an emergency is declared to
exist; and this ordinance being necessary for the immediate preserva.
tion of the public peace, health and safety, shall be in full Pose
