HomeMy WebLinkAbout650ff � * xz�: ORDINANCE NO - AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF CITY COLLECTOR, OF BA TESV ILLS; , ARKANSAS, PROVIDING FOR APPOINTMENT, SALARY, TENURE AND THE DUTIES OF SAID OFFICER; REVISING SALARIES OF CERTAIN OFFICERS OF SAID CITY: FIXING AND CLARIFYING DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF CERTAIN OFFICERS OF THE CITY= REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES - BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BATESVILLE, ARKANSASa Section 1. There is hereby created the office of City collector, of Bates - villa, Arkansas. The initial term of said official shall be until January 1, 1955. Thereafter said official shall be appointed, and his tenure of office shall be, for a tam of one (1) calendar year. Salary of such City Collector shall be the sum of One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00) per month, which shall be in full of all emoluments of said office. Said official shall remit all sums so collected by him, daily, to the City Treasurer, taking proper receipts therefor. On or before the tenth day of each month said official shall file a monthly report with the Mayor of the City with proper evidences of daily settlements made with the treasurer. Said official shall upon entering duties, for each term of office, provide a bond, conditioned on due and faithful performance of the duties of said office and the proper accounting for all funds which may come into his hands, in the sum of $ 2000.00 with surety thereon a corporate bonding company duly authorise o do` D iness in the State of Arkansas, and the City shall pay the premium on such bond. Effective January 1, 1955, the surety bond of the City Clerk and Ex -officio Clerk of the Municipal Court, required under the ordinances of said City, shall be reduced to and executed in the sum of 4 3000.00 Section 2. Each alderman of said City shall receive as salary the sum of n Vo 1 s ($10.00) per month, which shall be in full of all emoluments of said office; provided, however, this salary schedule shall not apply and become effective to any alderman until the beginning of a new term of office by such given official. Section 3. The Plumbing Inspector of said City shall receive as salary the sum of fifty Dollars ($50.00) per month, which shall be in full of all emol- uments of said office, which shall be payable solely and exclusively from fees accrued and accruing in the "plumbing inspection fund", and in no event out of the general revenue funds of said City. Section 4. The City Attorney of said City, shall perform the following dutiess he shall act as the legal advisor to the payor, members of the City Council, and prepare ordinances, resolutions, contracts and all other legal documents for the City; the Police and Fire Departments, the Civil Service Commission, the City Clerk, the City Collector and the City Treasurer; he shall prosecute violations of City Ordinances in the Municipal Court, the Circuit Court and the Supreme Court of Arkansas; he shall advise and represent the Board of Health and the City Health Officer; and he shall perform all other and further legal duties, except as provided in paragraph 2 of this Section. The City Attorney shall not be required, nor shall it be a part of his duties, to represent the Sewer Committee; nor any duties in connection with any bond issue whether revenue or ad valorem, or any Municipal Improvement District. a Section 5. All ordinances, or parts of ordinances,in conflict herewith are ere y repealed= and,if any part or section of this ordinamee should be declared invalid, such holding and invalidity shall no affect the remaining portions and sections thereof.
