ORDINANCE NO. �
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE RATES TO BE CHARGED
FOR THE WATER TO BE FURNISHED BY THE WATER SYSTEM
OF THE CITY OF BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS; AND PRESCRIB-
ING OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO.
WHEREAS the City of Batesville, Arkansas (called 'City")
is proposing to construct betterments and improvements to the City's
Water System, including, generally, without limitation, the con-
struction of raw water river intake, pump station, booster pump
station, transmission line to plant site, feeder mains, an elevated
storage tank, a new water treatment plant and additions to distribu-
tion lines, a part of the cost of which will be financed by a grant
to be obtained from an agency of the Government of the United
States of America, and the City does not have funds available to
pay the cost to the City to construct said betterments and improve-
ments, but can obtain the same by the issuance of Revenue Bonds;
and
WHEREAS as the initial step in said undertaking it is
necessary for the City to establish a new schedule of water rates
to be charged for water to be furnished;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the
City of Batesville, Arkansas:
Section 1. That the following monthly rates be, and they
are hereby, fined as rates to be charged for water to be furnished
and services to be rendered by the Water System of the City of
Batesville, Arkansas, to -wit:
MONTHLY WATER RATES
The water usage of each customer shall be determined each
month by meter measurement, and the amount to be paid by each

customer shall be computed on the basis of the following schedule
of rates:
For the first 3,000 gallons of water consumption (or
portion thereof) per month, $2.40 (which shall be the minimum
monthly charge);
For the next 17,000 gallons of water consumption per
month, $0.60 per thousand gallons;
For the next 80,000 gallons of water consumption per
month, $0.40 per thousand gallons;
For the next 100,000 gallons of water consumption per
month, $0.33 per thousand gallons;
For the next 200,000 gallons of water consumption per
month, $0.28 per thousand gallons;
For all monthly water consumption in excess of 4002000
gallons, $0.18 per thousand gallons.
Section 2. That meters shall be installed at each water
connection, and there shall be no dual connection or more than one
user on any single meter. All bills for water services shall be
rendered in the net amount due. If any water bill is not paid on
or before the tenth day after the bill therefor shall be rendered,
a ten per cent (10%) penalty shall be added. If any bill is not
paid within thirty (30) days after the bill shall be rendered,
water services shall be disconnected.
Section 3. That none of the facilities or services
afforded by the Water System shall be furnished without a charge
being made therefor.

Section 4. That the City Council hereby finds and
declares that the above rates are fair, reasonable and necessary
minimum rates, and will produce sufficient revenues to pay principal
of and interest on all bonds payable from the revenues of the Water
System, including the proposed revenue bonds to be used to pay the
City's portion of the cost of constructing the hereinabove referred
to betterments and improvements, as they mature, the paying agent's
fees, to provide depreciation funds for replacements or repairs to
the Mater System, and to pay the reasonable operation and maintenance
expenses of the Water System.
Section 5. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such con-
flict.
