AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A FRANCHISE TO OPERATE
AN AMBULANCE BUSINESS WITHIN THE CITY OF BATESVILLE
WHEREAS, The Batesville Municipal Code requires any person wishing to engage in the
ambulance business within the City of Batesville to first obtain a franchise from the City Council
of the City of Batesville;
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Batesville, in order to obtain an ambulance
business which maintains emergency ambulance service continuously during all hours, may
grant an exclusive franchise for the privilege of operating said ambulance business; and
WHEREAS, The Batesville Municipal Code designates that franchises for the purpose of
operating an ambulance business shall be issued for periods not to exceed five(5) years.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of Batesville, Independence
County, Arkansas, as follows:
1. The current exclusive franchise for the purpose of operating an ambulance
business expires on September 22, 2012.
2. It is in the best interest for the inhabitants of the City of Batesville and all other
• persons within the city to have qualified emergency ambulance service available
continuously during all hours.
3. Vital Link, Inc. applied for and was granted the franchise currently set to expire
and has renewed its application for the franchise.
4. Vital Link, Inc. is hereby granted an exclusive franchise for operation of an
ambulance business for a period of five(5)years.
5. Since this Ordinance is not of a general and permanent nature, it shall take effect
immediately.
