WHEREAS,historically the Batesville City Council has successfully met and worked with the
Independence County Quorum Court to address and resolve differences between the City and
the County, and
WHEREAS, for the last several years the City of Batesville has publicly expressed its
willingness to meet with the County to resolve issues between the City and the County, and
WHEREAS,most recently the Batesville City Attorney sent a letter to the County Attorney to
wit:
"The City Council is in receipt of your letter dated April 26, 2019 in regards to
Batesville's contribution to jail costs. Before any final decision is made by either the Quorum
Court or the City Council on this issue,the City Council requests a meeting of the entirety of
both bodies as well as the County Judge and the Mayor regarding this and other funding issues
at your nearest convenience.We would also like to have the Sheriff, Police Chief, and those
deputies charged with running the jail at this meeting.Thank you for your assistance in this
matter.",and
NOW THEREFORE:
The Batesville City Council continues to request a meeting with the Independence County
Quorum Court to resolve the disagreements between the City and County.
This RESOLUTION adopted this 9th day of July, 2019.
