Resolution to apply for the 2019 HOPE VI Main Street Grant
A resolution authorizing the City of Batesville to apply for the 2019 HOPE VI Main
Street Grant on behalf of the Adler Building.
WHEREAS, annually HUD offers one special grant for the rehabilitation of a historic
property located in a Main Street district already undergoing proven rejuvenation; and
WHEREAS, both the Main Street Batesville district and the endangered Adler Building
meet all qualifications and requirements for the grant; and
WHEREAS, the property owner has prepared all necessary documentation and written
agreement to execute the grant according to its stipulations should it be awarded; and
WHEREAS, the preservation and restoration of culturally significant historical places is
in the interest of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Batesville that the city:
Article 1. Will submit application to the HOPE VI Main Street Grant on behalf of the
property at 151 W. Main Street Batesville, commonly known as The Adler Building.
Article 2. Will serve only as "Applicant" in the submission, and as such, recipient of the
funds; the "Developer"role in the grant process will be fulfilled by the owner of the
property, Joey Markowski/Adler Building LLC.
