CITY OF BATESVILLE,ARKANSAS
A RESOLUTION TEMPORARILY ABATING AND REFUNDING BATESVILLE A & P
TAX
WHEREAS, pursuant to Arkansas Code Annotated § 26-75-601 et seq.,the City of
Batesville (the "City") has adopted ordinances levying taxes upon the gross receipts from the
renting, leasing, or otherwise furnishing of hotel, motel, or short term rental accommodations for
sleeping, meeting, or party room for profit in the City and similar businesses in order to establish
and maintain create an Advertising and Promotion Commission for the purpose of facilitating
tourism and the promotion of the City of Batesville, and the local region;
WHEREAS, our local hotels and motels have been particularly hard hit during the
ongoing COVID-19 health emergency; and
WHEREAS, in order to help our local lodging facilities through this time of financial
crisis, the A&P Commission is requesting that the City Council temporarily abate it's A&P Tax.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Batesville,
Arkansas:
Section 1: That the Batesville Advertising and Promotion Commission is hereby
authorized to abate and rebate all A&P taxes collected during the months of February and March
of 2020.
ADOPTED THIS 19TH DAY OF MAY, 2020.
