HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-07-04-R • RESOLUTION N0020 -O Y A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF BATESVILLE,ARKANSAS, TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR THE WORKFORCE TRAINING CENTER WHEREAS,Batesville has received bids for the construction of a viorkforce training center on the UACCB campus. The funding for the project is being provided by a grant from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission,USDA funds and county General Improvement Funds. All bids have been reviewed and a recommendation for award has been made by the project architect;and WHEREAS, it is necessary for the Mayor to sign the construction contract prior to execution of the work; NOW,THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED that the City Council of Batesville,Arkansas, hereby declares that the Mayor be authorized to execute a contract with M&A Jones Construction of Batesville,Arkansas,for the sum of Six Hundred Thirty-four Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety-six and No/100 Dollars ($634,996). Four separate sealed bids were received, e lowest bid in the amount of$432,000.00,was received from Precision Plus Con ction, lnc. The remaining bids were from MBCA Jones Construction,Inc. in the ount of $634,996.00,Dayco Construction, Inc.in the amount of 659,500.00 d from G.A.G Builders in the amount of$725,000.00. All bids received are within get. The low bidder, Precision Plus Construction, desires to withdraw his id(see attached letter). Arkansas Statutory Provision 22-9-203 (4)(g)stipulates "Whenever i is obvious from examination of the bid document that it was the intent of a bidde to submit a responsive bid and that the bid, if accepted, would create a serious fin racial loss to the bidder because of scrivener error, such as the transposition of fi as, the board, commission, officer, or other authority in which or in whom authority s vested has I 4p 1 the authority to relieve the bidder from responsibility under the bond and may reject the bid " As the bid submitted from Precision Plus is some$202,986.00 less than the second bid it is obvious that a mistake has been made.
