RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE OZARK GATEWAY SCENIC BYWAYS
INITIATIVE
WHEREAS, The Ozark Gateway has established a trio of scenic drives built around out many
historic assets, including museums, downtown historic districts, state parks, and numerous
churches, schools, farms and historic homes, and
WHEREAS, By linking these sites and attractions, our region will be better equipped to develop
and nurture our tourism economy. The broadly-based eight-county coalition that is championing
this effort is committed to achieving both state and federal Scenic Byway recognition, and
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Batesville, Arkansas applaud this initiative and are
confident that the entire region will embrace the Scenic Byway designation as they learn about its
potential to "facilitate recognition" of the region and create much-needed jobs in the tourism
economy.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
1) The City of Batesville, Arkansas enthusiastically supports the Ozark Gateway
Tourist Council Scenic Byways initiative. The initiative will help showcase the
many historic sites, natural wonders and cultural attractions in our region.
2) The City Of Batesville Arkansas urges State and Federal Officials to facilitate and
support our Region's efforts at conservation, preservation, and economic
development, all three of which will benefit enormously from Scenic Byways
recognition for our scenic drives.
