AN ORDINANCE SETTING THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE RATE FOR ALL
TAXICAB SERVICE IN THE CITY OF BATESVILLE,ARKANSAS.
WHEREAS,the City of Batesville, Arkansas has previously established an
Ordinance governing taxicab franchises and the operation thereof within the City, and
WHEREAS,the City of Batesville, Arkansas has the authority to establish the
maximum allowable rates for all taxicabs, consistent with the provisions of Arkansas
Code Annotated § 14-57-303, and
WHEREAS, the City of Batesville,Arkansas desires to set the maximum
allowable rate to be charged by taxicabs operating within the City in order to protect its
citizens against arbitrary and unfair rates.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS THAT THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE RATE TO BE
CHARGED BY TAXICABS OPERATING WITHIN THE CITY IS HEREBY
ESTABLISHED AS FOLLOWS:
1. A maximum rate of Ten Dollars ($10.00)per passenger initial fee plus a
maximum additional mileage fee of One Dollar and Fifty Cents ($1.50)per mile or .
fraction thereof except that a child under six years of age,properly restrained by a child
safety seat shall not be counted as an extra passenger when accompanied by an adult.
ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH ARE HEREBY REPEALED.
IT IS SO ORDAINED.
