ORDINANCE NO. 2003-7-2
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NUMBER 99-8-3, SECTIONS ONE
AND SIX, ADOPTING THE 2002 ARKANSAS FIRE CODE FROM THE 2000
INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BATESVILLE,
ARKANSAS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: There is hereby adopted by the City Council of the City of Batesville,
Arkansas, for the purpose of prescribing regulations governing conditions hazardous to
life and property from fire or explosions or other related causes that certain code known
as the 2002 Arkansas Fire Code from the 2000 International Fire Code Edition, of which
said code one (1) copy is now on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of
Batesville, Arkansas, and one (1) copy is now on file in the office of the Fire Chief of the
City of Batesville, Arkansas, and the same are hereby adopted and incorporated as
through fully set out herein word for word, and from the date of which this ordinance
shall take effect, the provisions contained therein shall be controlling within the limits of
the City of Batesville, Arkansas.
SECTION 6: SEVERABILITY. If any part of this ordinance shall be held void, such
part shall be deemed severable, and the invalidity thereof shall not affect the remaining
parts of this ordinance.
SECTION 7: EMERGENCY CLAUSE: For the purpose of bringing the fire code up-
to-date, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for
the public peace, welfare and safety shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage.
