HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-05-01-R RESOLUTION NO. 2000-5-1 A RESOLUTION OF PURPOSE AND INTENT FOR THE CITY OF BATESVILLE TO COMPLY WITH THE MANDATES OF THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT. WHEREAS, the City of Batesville is currently involved in litigation for the city to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. WHEREAS, the Plaintiffs and the City of Batesville have come to an agreement to compromise and settle the issues involved in said litigation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Batesville, Arkansas as follows: 1 . The City will adopt an Americans with Disabilities Act self-evaluation and transition plan of buildings and facilities to comply with the mandate of the Americans with Disabilities Act. 2. The City will adopt a plan to bring the City's services into compliance with the mandates of the Americans with Disabilities Act. 3. The City of Batesville will adopt a plan to bring the City's street curbs into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act as follows: (A) The City will adopt a curb cut plan to cut ninety-six (96) curb cuts over a period of five (5) years. (B) The ninety-six (96) curb cuts mentioned above do not include any curb cuts the City will be required to make for construction for utility work or street improvements, such as street overlays.
