A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR AND CITY CLERK OF BATESVILLE,
ARKANSAS, TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT
WITH OAKWOOD CONSTRUCTION, INC., OF
BEEBE, ARKANSAS.
WHEREAS,Batesville, has received bids for the construction of a child care facility to be
located at the Kindergarten Center. All bids have been reviewed and a recommendation for
award has been made by the City's architect; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the Mayor and City Clerk to sign a construction contract
prior to execution of the construction work;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED that the City Council of Batesville, Arkansas,
hereby declares that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute a contract with Oakwood
Construction, Inc., of Beebe, Arkansas, for a total of One Hundred Ninety-One Thousand, Six
Hundred Sixty-five and No/100 Dollars. ($191,665). Said cost of the contract not to be exceeded
without properly executed change orders.

Dear Mayor Biard:
I am enclosing a resolution for passage at next week's council meeting. This resolution awards the
contract for the child care facility funded by ADED to Oakwood Construction,Inc.,of Beebe,Arkansas.
This contractor was the low bidder on the project.
The contract award is $191,665 based on the following computation:
Base Bid $219,400
Less:
Deductive Alternate#1 (Sign) (1,400)
Deductive Alternate#2 (Lettering) ( 420)
Deductive Alternate#3 (Landscaping) (3,800)
Negotiated Items:
Parking Lot (12,965)*
Substitute Rubber base ( 400)
Substitute Split face block in lieu
of face brick ( 5,200)
Deduct brick columns ( 1,000)
Foundation Changes ( 1,500)
Deduct Mini-blinds ( 1,050)
Total Deductions 27.735
Contract Award Amount $191,665
*To be provided by school district
You have$170,000 available from ADED for construction. The Northcentral Arkansas Development
Council (NADC)will be contributing$21,665 to the project;you should receive a commitment letter on
these funds this week. We anticipate change orders after the project is awarded for other items;these
items will be paid by either NADC or the Batesville School District. The city will not be obligated to
any funds beyond the amount provided by ADED.
