RESOLUTION TO ENACT AREA WIDE PHONE COVERAGE FOR
INDEPENDENCE COUNTY.
WHEREAS, be it resolved that in the interest of public safety, education
and commerce, it is our desire to have community phone service for calling
areas as provided by SBC and CerturyTel.
WHEREAS, as neighbors across a road may have to endure long distance
charges, it is our desire to have community phone service to be totally local.
WHEREAS, as citizens of Independence County, we are all neighbors in
general economic communities of Batesville, Southside, Rosie, Oil Trough,
Newark, Magness, Cord, Charlotte, Cushman, Sulphur Rock, Pleasant Plains
and Floral share common concerns that require local connections to avoid
hardships to make calls to our families, schools, hospitals, county and state
service facilities.
WHEREAS, communication is essential for growth in business, public
safety and education.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT it is the desire of the
city council to create and improve the health and commerce of all citizens of
Independence County.
