BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Batesville. supports the University
of Arkansas Community College at Batesville's Trails for Life grant application for
$35,000 to the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism to fund a quarter mile, eight
feet wide walking trail on the campus of the University of Arkansas Community College
at Batesville, and agrees that there is a current and projected need for such a walking trail
in the City of Batesville and Independence County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the Batesville City Council by
unanimous vote agrees that the construction of the Trails for Life walking trail on the
campus of the University of Arkansas Community Coll-Ige will provide critical
infrastructure to improve people's health in a smoke-free, handicap accessible
environment providing a safe place to exercise for residents of the county and City of
Batesville.
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that the City Council of Batesville recommends the grant
and college and private funding be solicited to help support said activity, and pledges to
assist in this endeavor.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF
BATESVILLE adopts this resolution this 24`" day of October 2006.
