RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BATESVILLE IN SUPPORT OF THE
HONORABLE MIKE BEEBE, GOVERNOR OF THE GREAT STATE
OF ARKANSAS, FOR THE INCREASE OF THE SEVERANCE TAX
TO 5% ON NATURAL GAS RATES IN ARKANSAS.
WHEREAS, The City of Batesville and its Council fully support the agreement between
Governor Beebe and the natural gas companies; and
WHEREAS, The City of Batesville fully supports the allocations, disbursements, and
payments of the funds generated in the agreement to Arkansas highways and the general
fund; and
WHEREAS, The City of Batesville believes this agreement will further improve and
advance the infrastructure in Arkansas, and the increased ability of the Arkansas
Highway and Transportation Department to advance road projects as well as County and
City offices.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF BATESVILLE

1. The State Legislature support, endorse, and enact the proposed increase of 5% of
natural gas rates in Arkansas.
2. The State Legislature, along with the Governor, allocates 95% of the revenue to
Arkansas highways and 5% to the general fund.
3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
