• RESOLUTION NO._J1—C_
WHEREAS, the Batesville City Council has given extensive study and consid-
eration to the need for certain capital improvements in the City of Batesville
and to the County Courthouse and Jail ; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has made a committment to its citizens to
provide a means for a healthy economy, growth, and improvements to the quality
of life for its citizens and neighbors; and
WHEREAS, a one-half cent county-wide temporary sales tax would make
, possible a bond issue for capital improvements to the Batesville Water System,
thereby lowering water rates and resulting in a climate more conducive to

industry, business and residential growth; and
• WHEREAS, a one-cent county-wide temporary sales tax would make possible
a bond issue to finance construction of a new Independence County Jail facility,
! which provides incarceration services for the City of Batesville; and
WHEREAS, a one-half cent county-wide temporary sales tax would make
i
possible a bond issue to finance improvements to the County Courthouse, including
handicapped accessibility thereby providing a more safe and healthy environment
for those in need of services from the County government.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Batesville City Council wishes
to make known its support of the Independence County People for Progress
� in working for passage of a one-half cent county-wide temporary sales tax
� to finance these necessary and inportant capital improvement projects for
the benefit of the entire County.
