WHEREAS A change in this service might hamper future growth of manufacturers in the area and adversely effect the costs of operations and. . . WHEREAS Manufacturers currently using Union Pacific rail service employ more than 3,000 local residents , THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Batesville City Council hereby opposes the sale of Union Pacific track from Bergman, Arkansas to Newark, Arkansas . If the sale of this track is inevitable we would urge Union Pacific officials to consider an extension of the portion for lease from Newark, Arkansas north to Limedale, Arkansas .
