HEALTH CARE REFORM
WHEREAS, President Clinton and the U.S. Congress are considering major
Health Care Reform, and;
WHEREAS, the Arkansas Municipal League's Health Benefit Fund has provided
municipal officials and employees broad coverage and stable rates through a
self-funded pool arrangement since 1981, and;
WHEREAS, pooling and self-funding may not be authorized under some of
the health care proposals.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF BATESVILLE. ARKANSAS:
That we urge the President and Arkansas' Congressional delegation to seek
to preserve self-funding and pooling as options for municipalities in providing
medical coverage for their officials and employees.
Further, we urge our Congressional delegation to oppose any programs which
do not retain these alternatives for municipalities.
