�,. A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE ARKANSAS LEGISLATURE TO AMEND
SECTION 2 OF ACT 430 OF 1991.
WHEREAS, the following language is contained in said act: SECTION 2. (a) The
city or town council of any city or town with the mayor-council form of government, by
resolution passed before January 1 of the year of the election, may request the county
party committees of recognized political parties under the laws of the state to conduct
party primaries for municipal offices for the forthcoming year. When the resolution has
been adopted, the clerk or recorder shall mail a certified copy of the resolution to the

chairmen of the county party committees and to the chairmen of the state party
committees. Candidates nominated for municipal office by political primaries under this
section shall be certified by the county party committees to the county board of election
commissioners and shall be placed on the ballot at the general election, and
WHEREAS, this is an undue burden upon municipalities.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION 1: It is recommended that once a governing body of a municipality
adopts an ordinance dictating the opinion of said body in reference to Section 2, Act 430

of 1991, the procedure shall not change until it is amended.
SECTION 2: A copy of this resolution shall be sent to the Governor of the State
of Arkansas, Arkansas House of Representatives, Arkansas Senate, the Arkansas

Municipal League, and all state elected officials in the House of Representatives and
Arkansas Senate serving the area of Batesville, Arkansas.
