HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-04-03-R =�L 9, / 0 A RESOLUTION CLARIFYING UNWRITTEN POLICY REGARDING OAKLAWN CEMETERY AND THE GRAY'S ADDITION TO SAID CEMETERY WHEREAS, in the past it has been the unwritten policy not to have funerals on Sunday or Holidays at Oaklawn Cemetery and The Gray's addition to said cemetery; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City and the public to have the wishes of the City Council in written form. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BATESVILLE CITY COUNCIL: 1. Funerals should not be held in Oaklawn Cemetery or the Gray's addition to Oaklawn on Sundays or City Holidays except in extreme situations to be determined by the Mayor. If exceptions are made and employees are available, charges should be as follows: $400.00 to cover the cost of labor and machinery with the Mayor to determine rates of cost as to labor vs. machinery. 2. For funerals on Saturday, the cost should be the overtime applicable rate for labor with no cost for machinery. 3. Opening and closing costs would remain at present levels Monday through Saturday. 4. Funeral homes should be liable for said costs. 5. Only employees of the City of Batesville should be allowed to operate machinery in said cemetery and addition.
