Mayor Elumbaugh called the meeting to order. Those present were Tommy Bryant, Margarett Henley, Paige Hubbard, Fred Krug, Chris Poole and David Shetron. The City Clerk and City Attorney were also present. Councilmembers Davy Insell and Doug Matthews were absent. DISCUSS RATE INCREASE FOR HEALTH INSURANCE Mayor Elumbaugh informed the council that the City had received a notice that our health insurance premiums were increasing 10% effective July 1. At the last meeting the City Clerk gave the council the figures and how the total increase will impact the city budgets. Councilmember Shetron said the increase for the dependant coverage should be passed along to the employees. Councilmember Krug said the employees were told at the beginning of the year what their salaries were and their cost for health insurance and he did not think it was right to pass the increase along to the employees at this time. Councilmember Bryant agreed with Mr. Krug and said even a small increase affects someone making $8.00 per hour. The council discussed that the portion that the employee currently pays is extremely low compared to most places of employment and will probably need to be increased when considering the budget next year. Councilmember Henley moved that the city absorb the entire rate increase for the rest of the year. Councilmember Hubbard seconded and the vote was 5 for and 1 (Shetron) against. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, Councilmember Bryant moved that the meeting be adjourned. Councilmember Poole seconded and all voted for. RICK ELUMBAUGH, MAYOR DENISE M. JOHNSTON, CITY CLERK
