He asked that the council use their influence to persuade the Quorum Court not <br /> to allow the placement of the wood caps. <br /> C) MR.GREG MOHLKE WITH A PRESENTATION FROM THE RECREATION TASK FORCE <br /> Mr. Greg Mohlke addressed the council representing the Recreation Task Force. Mr. Mohlke <br /> gave a brief background on how the task force was formed and the steps they had taken to get to this <br /> meeting. The task force collected over 1,100 signatures in favor of a new community center with <br /> meeting and convention space, basketball courts, an outdoor water and splash park, indoor competition <br /> swimming facilities,therapy pool, indoor walking track, a senior citizens area a theatre/auditorium style <br /> lecture center and other similar amenities, a skate board park and a new recreation facilities for <br /> baseball, softball and soccer fields. The task force will be presenting the council, hopefully at the next <br /> meeting,with an ordinance to hold a special election on August 10, 2010 giving the citizens of Batesville <br /> the opportunity to vote for a sales tax to build and maintain the facilities mentioned. After a question <br /> and answer period from the council and citizens, Mayor Elumbaugh commended and thanked the task <br /> force for their work. <br /> D) REAPPOINTMENT TO THE BATESVILLE HOUSING AUTHORITY <br /> Mayor Elumbaugh asked the council to re-appoint Ms. Nancy Phillips to the Batesville Housing <br /> Authority. Councilmember Shetron so moved and Councilmember Bryant seconded. All voted for. Ms. <br /> Phillips will expire May 27, 2015. <br /> E) ENGINEER'S REPORT <br /> City Engineer Damon Johnson addressed the council with his engineer's report. Mr.Johnson <br /> said the tunnel drilling was now at 1300+feet but has hit hard material and was only progressing 10 to <br /> 20 feet per day. He said the contractors were expecting the hard material and were still very pleased <br /> with the progress. <br /> Mr.Johnson said all other departments were running as usual. <br />
