Mr. Robert Sanders addressed the council regarding a sewer overflow that <br /> ruined a piece of Tool and Die equipment that he had stored in a storage building. Mr. <br /> Sanders said he was not made aware of the overflow until August 2008 but the incident <br /> occurred on June 19, 2008. According to Engineer Damon Johnson and Construction <br /> Supervisor Red Davis, the backup was due to a blockage in the line and it is the City's <br /> responsibility. Mr. Sanders said to replace the bearings on the equipment is $750.00, <br /> $1,000.00 in labor and approximately $550.00 for shipping. Councilmember McDonald <br /> moved to pay $1,750.00 plus shipping for the repair and Councilmember Henley <br /> seconded. All voted for. <br /> (C)CONSIDER HISTORIC DISTRICT PRESERVATION ORDINANCE <br /> Councilmember Insell introduced an ordinance to establish procedures for the <br /> protection and preservation of the character of the properties within the Historic District. <br /> Dr. Terrell Tebbetts addressed the council with background on the proposed <br /> ordinance. After a discussion, Councilmember Matthews moved to read the first <br /> reading by title only. Councilmember Shetron seconded and the roll call count was 8 <br /> for and 0 against. Mr. Stalker read the ordinance by title only. The ordinance will be <br /> placed on the next agenda for the second reading. <br /> (D)ENGINEER'S REPORT <br /> City Engineer Mr. Damon Johnson addressed the council with his Engineer's <br /> report. <br /> (E)EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> Councilmember Bryant moved to go into executive session and Councilmember <br /> Insell seconded. All voted for. <br />
