MINUTES OF COUNCIL
MAY 9, 2006
The Batesville City Council met in regular session on May 9, at 5:30 PM at
the Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting.
Councilmember Smart gave the invocation. Upon roll call the following
councilmembers answered present: R.L. Carpenter, John Cooke, Fred Krug,
Doug Matthews, Dana Mynatt, Stephen Smart and Paula Terrell. Also present
were the City Clerk and the City Attorney. Councilmember Pectol was absent.
CITIZENS COMMENTS
Ms. Faye Martin addressed the council regarding the smoking ordinance.
Ms. Martin said that she was concerned with the enforcement of the ordinance.
She also said that the city parks are currently under utilized and adoption of the
ordinance would only make the use of the parks even less. She also said she
was a part of the Pagan Pride event at the park last year and wanted to know if a
non profit organization would have to pay for the "Event Permit". Mayor Biard
told Ms. Martin that she would have an opportunity to address the council during
the discussion of the smoking ordinance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Councilmember Cooke moved to approve the minutes from the previous
meeting and Councilmember Carpenter seconded. All voted for.
REPORTS OF SPECIAL SELECT COMMITTEES
Councilmember Matthews gave a brief report from the budget committee
which met last month.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
