MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> AUGUST 26, 2003 <br /> The Batesville City Council met in regular session on August 26, at 5:30 PM at the Municipal <br /> Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. Councilmember Ford gave the invocation. Upon <br /> roll call the following Councilmembers answered present: Jim Cargill, R.L. Carpenter, Robert Ford, <br /> Gerald Gaither, Jim Mitchum, Paula Terrell and Jim Watkins. Also present were the Deputy City Clerk <br /> Brenda Riley and the City Attorney Scott Stalker. Councilmember Pectol was absent. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the last meeting. Councilmember <br /> Watkins seconded and all voted for. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda. Councilmember Watkins seconded <br /> and all voted for. <br /> RESOLUTION TO ALLOW FOR IMPROVEMENTS AT AIRPORT <br /> Councilmember Watkins introduced a resolution that would authorize the Mayor and the City Attorney <br /> of Batesville to sign a grant offer agreement for improvements to the Batesville Regional Airport under <br /> project number 3-05-004-007-2003. Mayor Biard read the resolution and ask Mr. Charles Barnett, with <br /> the airport commission, to explain to the Council what the resolution was for. Mr. Barnett explained to <br /> the council that the Batesville Airport has a need to implement Phase 1 of Safety Area improvements <br /> which would include demolition and site grading of 3 hangers, construct fuel farm and the removal of <br /> existing security fence construction, hangar acquisition and grading. This resolution would authorize the <br /> Mayor to accept the grant offered by the Federal Aviation Administration. Councilmember Watkins <br /> moved to pass the resolution and Councilmember Carpenter second and all voted for. The resolution was <br /> given 42003-8-2-R. <br /> MAYOR'S ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> Mayor Biard informed the council that Mr. Dirk Groenenberg, who use to live in Batesville had left a <br /> $250,000 donation to the City of Batesville. He stipulated in his will that the money would be used to <br />
