seconded and the roll call count was 6 for and 2 (Ford and Gaither) against. The
ordinance was given 42003-2-1.
DISCUSS A PROPOSED ORDINANCE CONCERNING ADDRESS NUMBERS
AS REQUESTED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
Mayor Biard asked the council to consider an ordinance that would require clear
and visible assigned numbers on residential, commercial and industrial structures within
the city limits of Batesville. Some time back, the fire department addressed the council
with their concerns with not being able to locate address numbers in emergency
situations. They said the proposed numbering would also help the sheriff's department
and ambulance personnel. As a short discussion, the council asked to have the proposed
ordinance placed on the next council agenda.
DISCUSSION OF CROSSWALK AT ST. LOUIS AND COLLEGE
Mrs. Zach Mobley addressed the council requesting a cross walk be placed on St.
Louis Street at the intersection of College Ave. The council looked at pictures of the
intersection. Mayor Biard said that the Highway Department said they would not put a
cross walk at the intersection but gave the City permission to do so. The Mayor said that
in order to place a crosswalk, the sidewalks would have to be made handicapped
accessible per ADA requirements. In order to do that, the stop light pole would have to
be moved. After a lengthy discussion, the council asked for the request to be put on the
next council agenda.
MAYOR'S ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mayor Biard said a settlement with FEMA has been made for the December 2002
ice storm. The city could only claim overtime hours and equipment usage in the claim.
