II. Service Connection means a piping connection between the water main of BWU <br /> • and a consumer's system. <br /> JJ. TSI means Underwriter Laboratories. <br /> Section 2 <br /> ADMINISTRATION <br /> 2.0 AUTHORITY OF APPROVING AUTHORITY <br /> The Approving Authority shall administer the Program, and may designate individuals to <br /> conduct the Program. <br /> A. The Approving Authority is hereby authorized to: <br /> (1) To protect the public potable water distribution system from contamination <br /> or pollution due to the backflow or backsiphonage through the water <br /> service connection. <br /> (2) Conduct a program which includes routine inspection of commercial, <br /> institutional, industrial establishments, and residential sites for possible <br /> contamination or pollution. <br /> (3) Require installation of a backflow prevention assembly depending on the <br /> possible degree of hazard. (Whether direct or indirect.) <br /> (4) Review construction plans and determine requirement for backflow <br /> prevention assemblies. This shall apply to new construction, alteration or <br /> additions, as well as, modification of existing fire protection systems. This <br /> authority in no way infringes upon, and is in addition to the authority of the <br /> Batesville Code Enforcement Officer with regard to his duties in plan <br /> review and approval. <br /> (5) Provide installation criteria for backflow prevention assemblies and <br /> issuance of permits prior to construction. <br /> (6) Conduct final inspection of backflow prevention assembly installations to <br /> verify conformance with approved installation plans. <br /> (7) Ensure that RPZAs used for fire hydrants are performance tested and have <br /> a backflow prevention assembly permit. <br /> 5 <br />
