AGREEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING <br /> BETWEEN <br /> The of <br /> The Office of the Coordinator of Public Safety <br /> In Cooperation With the <br /> U.S. Department of Transportation <br /> Federal Highway Administration <br /> And <br /> Arkansas Highway Department <br /> RELATIVE TO <br /> The establishment of a cooperative program for correcting signing <br /> deficiencies on streets and roads not on a Federal-aid system, phase II . <br /> WHEREAS, Section 405, Title 23, U.S. Code, provides funds which can <br /> be used to correct sign deficiencies on non-Federal-aid routes on a 90% <br /> Federal-10% Local matching basis; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire of the of <br /> hereinafter called City, and the Office of the Coordinator of Public Safety to <br /> implement a project to up-grade the signing in the City to conform with the <br /> Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) . <br /> IT IS HEREBY AGREED that the City and the Office of the Coordinator <br /> of Public Safety, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration and <br /> the Arkansas Highway Department, will participate in a cooperative program for <br /> implementation of a signing project; and <br /> HEREBY , accept the responsibilities and assigned duties as related <br /> in the following paragraph: <br /> THE CITY WILL: <br /> 1. Adopt any necessary ordinance or ordinances required for <br /> the implementation of the project. <br /> 2. Obligate by appropriate means and provide satisfactory- <br /> surety <br /> atisfactorysurety by a certified check for 10% of the project cost. <br /> a <br />
