The council considered an ordinance to re-zone certain property from R-2 <br /> to Historical district R-1. The property is located on Rock and Elm Streets <br /> between 7t"and 9t" Streets. Mr. Bill Olson spoke on behalf of the landowners <br /> requesting the re-zoning. Mr. Authur Montgomery spoke on behalf of landowners <br /> and neighbors in opposition of the re-zoning. The council heard from several <br /> people in favor of and in opposition of the re-zoning. The Mayor read the <br /> ordinance for the first reading. With no motion to suspend the rules and place on <br /> the second reading the ordinance will be placed on the agenda for the next <br /> meeting. <br /> EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> Councilmember Mitchum moved to go into executive session and <br /> Councilmember Insell seconded. All voted for. <br /> Upon returning from executive session, Councilmember Bone moved to <br /> appoint Mr. Damon Dortch to the Planning Commission. Councilmember Insell <br /> seconded and all voted for. Mr. Dortch will serve from June 10, 1998 through <br /> June 10, 2003. <br /> REVIEW OF BILLS <br /> After a review of the bills, Councilmember Cargill moved that they be paid. <br /> Councilmember Gaither seconded. All voted for. <br /> There being no further business, Councilmember Mitchum moved that the <br /> meeting be adjourned and Councilmember Insell seconded. All voted for. <br /> JOE M.
