MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> MARCH 23, 1999 <br /> The Batesville City Council met in regular session on March 23 at 5:30 <br /> P.M. at the Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. <br /> Councilmember Cargill gave the invocation. Upon roll call, all the council <br /> answered present except Councilmember Bone. <br /> Councilmember Cargill moved to approve the minutes from the last <br /> meeting. Councilmember Pectol seconded and all voted for. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda as <br /> amended. Councilmember Insell seconded and all voted for. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING ON CLOSING PORTION OF STATE STREET <br /> Mayor Biard opened the floor for the public hearing to close a portion of <br /> State Street. Attorney Eric Hance and Mr. Barney Hightower, owner of the <br /> property, were present to answer any questions. There being no one present to <br /> speak on the street closing, the hearing was closed. <br /> CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE TO VACATE A PORTION OF STATE STREET <br /> Mayor Biard read an ordinance that would vacate a portion of State Street. <br /> Councilmember Cargill moved to suspend the rules and place the ordinance on <br /> the second reading. Councilmember Carpenter seconded and the roll call count <br /> was 7 for and 0 against. The Mayor read the ordinance for the second reading. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to further suspend the rules and place the <br /> ordinance on the third reading. Councilmember Insell seconded and the roll call <br /> count was 7 for and 0 against. The Mayor read the ordinance for the final <br /> reading.
