Councilmember Insell seconded. The roll call count was 7 for and 0 against.
The ordinance was given #99-3-1.
MAYOR'S ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Mayor said the Code Enforcement Officer has been trying to locate
Mr. William Langston regarding the work he proposed to do on the Landers
Theater. Mr. McClure said Mr. Langston has not started any work on the
property. The Mayor said he will give Mr. Langston until the next council meeting
to inform the council of his intentions for the property.
The Mayor showed the council a video of the incinerator property. The
Mayor said he would like to start removing the boilers, which would take several
months. He said he has shown the boilers to several businesses for removal,
however, no one has made an offer to remove them. With the boilers out, the
building would make a good container roll-off transfer station. Mayor Biard said
the recent rate increase for the garbage tipping fees has made him aware of the
need to consider alternatives for the City's garbage. The Mayor said he would
advertise for bids to have the boilers removed and report to the council at the
April 13th meeting.
LIAISON REPORT
Councilmember Carpenter said the airport has been approved for a
$477,000 grant to overlay the taxiway and the area in front of the hangers. The
airport would need assistance of an additional $35,000 from the City in order to
make the matching part of the grant. Mr. Carpenter said the airport commission
will probably approach the council with a request for additional funds.
