MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> FEBRUARY 22, 2000 <br /> The Batesville City Council met for its regular meeting on February 22, at 5:30 <br /> P.M. at the Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. <br /> Councilmember Carpenter gave the invocation. Upon roll call, all the council answered <br /> present except Councilmember Gaither. Also present were the City Clerk and the City <br /> Attorney. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. <br /> Councilmember Insell seconded and all voted for. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda as amended. <br /> Councilmember Insell seconded and all voted for. <br /> UPDATE ON AMERICANS DISABILITY ACT LAWSUIT <br /> Mayor Biard showed the council a map of sidewalks throughout the City that <br /> have to become compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Mayor said he <br /> is going to meet with the attorneys involved with the lawsuit next week and will in the <br /> near future have a resolution for the council to adopt that will appropriate monies to <br /> make our City compliant. <br /> DISCUSS TRAINING EXPENSES FOR PATROL OFFICERS <br /> Councilmember Insell told the council that 3 metro officers were being sent to the <br /> police academy. Mr. Insell was concerned that the City is paying for all the training of <br /> officers and then they are transferred to the County. The council discussed the option <br /> of transferring the officers to county slots and having the county pay for the training, <br /> however, three certified officers would have to be put in metro slots at a higher rate of <br /> pay. Councilmember Cargill moved to transfer one officer to the county, let the city pay <br />
