MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> MARCH 14, 2000 <br /> The Batesville City Council met for its regular meeting on March 14, at <br /> 5:30 P.M. at the Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. <br /> Councilmember Gaither gave the invocation. Upon roll call, all the council <br /> answered present except Councilmember Bone. Also present were the City <br /> Clerk and the City Attorney. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the previous <br /> meeting. Councilmember Pectol seconded and all voted for. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda as amended <br /> and Councilmember Insell seconded. All voted for. <br /> RESTORATION OF MELBA THEATER <br /> Mr. Terry Chandler addressed the council and told of his current <br /> restoration of the Melba Theater. Mr. Chandler said he hopes to have the <br /> restoration complete within the next couple of months and will open a discount <br /> theater showing second runs and classic movies. His plans now include to be <br /> open on Friday and Saturday and possibly a Sunday Matinee. <br /> ORDINANCE TO CHANGE PROPERTY AT 890 25th STREET FROM R-2 <br /> RESIDENTIAL TO C-2 COMMERCIAL <br /> Mayor Biard read an ordinance that would re-zone property located at 890 <br /> 25th Street from R-2 Residential to C-2 Commercial. Councilmember Cargill <br /> moved to suspend the rules and place the ordinance on the second reading. <br /> Councilmember Carpenter seconded and the roll call vote was 7 for and 0 <br /> against.
