He also said the money will not <br /> have to be spent until 2002 so the council will be able to budget for the expense for next <br /> year. After a discussion, Councilmember Bone moved to proceed with the grant <br /> application and Councilmember Carpenter seconded. All voted for. Chief Hilburn said <br /> he would come to the next meeting with the exact figures for the grant proposal. <br /> CODE ENFORCEMENT REVIEW AND UPDATE <br /> Code Enforcement Officer Chad McClure gave the council a review and update of <br /> his department. Mr. McClure showed the council pictures of a house on Broad Street. <br /> The house on the property burned over four years ago. Mr. Dave Hughes who is in the <br /> process of repairing the house has been before the council on three separate occasions. <br /> The pictures show little improvement to the house since 1999. Mr. McClure said the <br /> yard needed to be cleaned up as well as debris removed from the property. He said the <br /> yard has been out of compliance for quite some time and he has already issued Mr. <br /> Hughes a warning. Councilmember Gaither moved to have the Code Enforcement <br /> Officer instruct Mr. Hughes to clean up the property by September 19, 2001. <br /> Councilmember Pectol seconded. After a discussion, Mr. Gaither withdrew his original <br /> motion and instead moved for the Code Enforcement Officer to issue a citation for non- <br /> compliance to Mr. Dave Hughes regarding the yard of the property. Councilmember <br /> Pectol seconded and all voted for. <br /> COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS <br /> The council considered the re-appointment of two Parks and Recreation <br /> Commissioners.
