seconded. Mayor Elumbaugh asked the Chamber of Commerce Tourism <br /> Director, Mr. Kyle Christopher, to address the council regarding the <br /> proposed ordinances. Mr. Christopher said all of the local hotel and motel <br /> owners are in favor of the ordinances and no citizens of Batesville or <br /> Independence County have voiced any opposition. Councilmember <br /> Henley said she felt like the ordinance had been discussed several times <br /> and anyone in opposition would have had plenty of time to notify the City <br /> or their council representative. The electronic vote regarding the tableting <br /> of the ordinance was 2 for (Shetron and Poole) and 3 against (Crafton, <br /> Henley and Hubbard). The motion failed. City Attorney Meitzen read the <br /> ordinance in full. Mayor Elumbaugh said the ordinance will be placed on <br /> the next meeting's agenda for the third and final reading. <br /> B) SECOND READING OF AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE <br /> ENFORCEMENT AND COLLECTION OF TAXES LEVIED BY THE CITY ON <br /> HOTELS AND MOTELS <br /> Councilmember Matthews moved to suspend the rules and read the <br /> ordinance by title only. Councilmember Hubbard seconded and the <br /> electronic vote was 6 for and 0 against. Mr. Meitzen read the ordinance <br /> by title only. Mayor Elumbaugh said the ordinance will be placed on the <br /> next meeting's agenda for the third and final reading. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> A) CONSIDER A RESOLUTION FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE 2017 <br /> BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF BATESVILLE <br />
