MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> MARCH 12, 2002 <br /> The Batesville City Council met in regular session on March 12, at 5:30 PM at the <br /> Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. Councilmember <br /> Watkins gave the invocation. Upon roll call the following Councilmembers answered <br /> present: Dana Bone, Jim Cargill, R.L. Carpenter, Robert Ford, Gerald Gaither, Jim <br /> Mitchum, Jerry Pectol and Jim Watkins. Also present were the City Clerk Denise <br /> Johnston and the City Attorney Scott Stalker. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. <br /> Councilmember Watkins seconded and all voted for. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to adopt the prepared agenda and Councilmember <br /> Cargill seconded. All voted for. <br /> REPORT FROM ARTS COUNCIL <br /> Ms. Renee Ramsey, Interim Director of the Area Arts Council, addressed the <br /> council regarding the status of the Marvin Hotel. Ms. Ramsey said the Arts Council just <br /> signed a 6 month lease on the property and hopes to begin the clean up on April 6. They <br /> are waiting on help from the Department of Correction. She also said that Preston Grace <br /> has offered his property across the street from the hotel to place the large rock until a <br /> permanent place can be found to store them. She said the helpers from the Corrections <br /> unit will only be able to work on weekends but they are hoping for a vast improvement to <br /> the property within the next 6 months. <br /> SHERIFF'S REPORT <br /> The council was given a copy of Sheriff's Departmental Activity and Status <br /> Report for February, 2002. <br />
