MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> MAY 14, 2002 <br /> The Batesville City Council met in regular session on May 14, at 5:30 PM at the <br /> Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. Councilmember Watkins gave <br /> the invocation. Upon roll call the following Councilmembers answered present: Jim Cargill, <br /> R.L. Carpenter, Robert Ford, Jim Mitchum, Jerry Pectol and Jim Watkins. Councilmember <br /> Gaither was absent. Also present were the City Clerk Denise Johnston and the City Attorney <br /> Scott Stalker. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the last meeting. <br /> Councilmember Pectol seconded and all voted for. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda as amended. <br /> Councilmember Pectol seconded and all voted for. <br /> SHERIFF'S MONTHLY REPORT <br /> Sheriff Dan Johnson gave his monthly report to the council. <br /> CONSIDERATION OF DRAFTING AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO LOUD NOISES <br /> Mayor Biard told the council he had included in their packets another ordinance from a <br /> town in Arkansas to look at for drafting a noise ordinance. The council was in agreement that <br /> they need more time to look at the ordinances presented to them. They also asked the city <br /> attorney to get them a copy of the current State Law regarding noise and some case laws to look <br /> at. Mrs. Jim Burnett addressed the council and read a prepared statement regarding the noise at <br /> Riverside Park. Mrs. Burnett ended her statement with she felt like it was time to stop making <br /> excuses and find a way to solve the problem. <br />
