ORDINANCE NO. c, li/ <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 717 REGULATING THE <br />USE OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SEWERS AND DRAINS, PRIVATE SEWAGE DIS- <br />POSAL, THE INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION OF BUILDING SEWERS, AND <br />THE DISCHARGE OF WATERS AND WASTES INTO THE PUBLIC SEWER SYSTEMS: <br />AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF: IN THE CITY OF <br />BATESVILLE, COUNTY OF INDEPENDENCE, STATE OF ARKANSAS. <br />WHEREAS, the cost to the City of Batesville, Arkansas, <br />for handling excessive solids and sludge and for increased <br />facilities to improve biological treatment greatly exceeds the <br />cost for processing normal domestic sewage; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Batesville, Arkansas, is respon- <br />sible to provide sufficient treatment for all waste waters being <br />released from the City of Batesville Waste Water Treatment Plant <br />into a natural stream; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Batesville, <br />Arkansas, deems it necessary to cooperate with the County of <br />Independence, the State of Arkansas, and the Federal Government <br />in the control of pollution in our natural streams and rivers for <br />the safety and welfare of all citizens; and further deems it <br />necessary to establish maximum limits to be considered as normal <br />quantities of suspended solids and BOD which may be discharged <br />into the City's sewer system; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of <br />the City of Batesville, Arkansas, in regular session assembled <br />as follows: <br />Section: 1. Article III, Private Sewage Disposal, Section 4 <br />of Ordinance 717 of City of Batesville, Arkansas, is amended to <br />read as follows: <br />The type, capacities, location, and layout of a <br />private sewage disposal system shall comply with <br />all recommendations of the Department of Public <br />Health of the State of Arkansas. <br />The following lot sizes should be provided, but <br />are not mandatory, when septic tank absorption <br />field systems are proposed: <br />a. If an individual water well supply and septic <br />tank system are proposed, the lot size should be <br />-1- <br />
