Definitions <br /> Section 15.02.01. Definitions <br /> The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to <br /> them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning. Definitions not <br /> expressly prescribed in this section are to be construed in accordance with customary usage in municipal <br /> planning and engineering practice. <br /> Alley means a public or private right-of-way primarily designed to serve as a secondary access to the side <br /> of or rear of properties whose principal frontage is on some other street. <br /> Applicant means the owner of land proposed to be subdivided or his representative. Written consent shall <br /> be required from the legal owner of the land. <br /> Assurance of completion instrument means a cashier's check,certificate of deposit,treasury bond or other <br /> negotiable government security or an irrevocable letter of credit given by the developer to the city to <br /> guarantee the completion of the necessary improvements within a subdivision. <br /> Bill of assurance means a legal document specifying the covenants and restrictive conditions applicable <br /> to a particular property. <br /> • Block means a tract of land entirely bounded by streets, or by a combination of streets and public parks, <br /> cemeteries,railroad rights-of-way,shorelines,waterways or boundary lines of municipalities. <br /> -145 - Batesville Subdivision Regulations <br />
