RESOLUTION NO 92-3-1 BEFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS A RESOLUTION URGING THE LOCATION OF THE ARKANSAS SCHOOL FOR MATH AND SCIENCE IN BATESVILLE, INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, ARKANSAS; EXPRESSING SUPPORT THEREFORE, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES WHEREAS, the Citizens of the City of Batesville, Arkansas, and Arkansas College have expressed a great deal of interest and enthusiasm for the location of the Arkansas School for Mathematics and Science in Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas and WHEREAS, the individual members of this governing body have strongly expressed their support for the location of the Arkansas School for Mathematics and Science in Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas; and WHEREAS, it is the consensus of the citizenry and the members of this body that this area is ideally suited for the location of an educational facility such as the Mathematics and Science School in that this area has consistently and historically supported its educational institutions both public and private; and WHEREAS, the Arkansas School for Mathematics and Science will provide significant cultural, educational and social enhancement to the area; and WHEREAS, an independently commissioned Economic Report, attached hereto and made a part hereof, reveals that the Arkansas School for Mathematics and Science should have a positive economic impact of 24.8 Million Dollars annually and as much as Ninty Four Thousand Dollars [$94,000.00) in additional tax revenues; NOW BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED: 1. That the City Council of Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas urges the location of the Arkansas School for Mathematics and Science in Batesville, • Independence County Arkansas and expresses its sincere intention to offer its complete support to the school, if located here, to the extent that is legally and financially possible.
