Councilmember Bryant said the State Aeronautics Commission did a core drill on our
runway and several others throughout the state and said that our runway was not strong
enough for a G4 or larger plane. They said it was not a problem since we don't have those
planes at our airport, however, Mr. Bryant said we do. He said the Airport Commission and
Manager Daren Wilkes are in contact with our representatives in Washington to increase the
thickness of the runway. Mr. Bryant said he has talked to the representatives of FutureFuel
Chemical Company who land large planes at our airport. He said their only issue was when
they have a full load of fuel there wheels will sometime sink into the asphalt ramps when
parked. Mr. Bryant said Mr. Wilkes is working on a solution for the problem.
COUNCIL COMMENTS
Councilmember Bryant asked Chief Cockrill if while patrolling, had the officers logged
any inoperative street lights out around town.
