Ms. Tami Meyer, Tourism Director with the Chamber of Commerce addressed <br /> the council with recent tourism information. Ms. Meyer said she hit the ground <br /> running with the recent Batesville Bikes and Backroads event. According to her <br /> figures, the event brought in approximately $500 in tax revenue from hotels and <br /> motels only. She said she visited with several restaurants and most said they had <br /> an increase in business during that time period. Ms. Meyer also said she emailed a <br /> tourism survey to the City's Administrative Secretary and asked her to forward the <br /> survey to all the City's boards, commissions and council. She said the input she <br /> receives will be put in a database and will be very helpful for planning future events <br /> in Batesville. <br /> B) CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF SALES AND <br /> USE TAX BONDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF FINANCING ALL OR A PORTION <br /> OF THE COST OF CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS <br /> Mr. Ryan Bowman with Friday, Eldridge and Clark Law Firm and Mr. Paul Phillips <br /> with Crews and Associates addressed the council regarding the proposed <br /> ordinance to authorizing the issuance of sales and use tax bonds for the <br /> construction of the new Parks and Recreation facilities. Mr. Phillips informed the <br /> council that he was pleased to announce that the City received an AA- credit rating <br /> with Standard & Poor's Rating Service. He said the rating speaks well of the City's <br /> leadership and the direction in which the City is heading. Because in part by the <br /> AA- rating, he said they sold $25,900,000 in Bonds on behalf of the City at a 3.8% <br /> interest rate. Mr. Bowman went over specific items in the ordinance for the council <br /> and answered their questions regarding the ordinance. Councilmember Bryant <br />
