Mayor Elumbaugh asked Councilmember Bryant to give a report on the City's
sales tax collections. Councilmember Bryant, who has done extensive research on
sales tax collections for the past couple of years, gave the council a comparative report
for the past 12 months for both the county one cent sales tax and the Wastewater one
cent sales tax. The report shows an 8.89% increase for the county sales tax and a
.05% decrease for the Wastewater tax. He explained to the council that there are
several variables on why sales tax revenues fluctuate throughout the year. He also
explained how the "Tax Back" program works and how it affects our sales tax revenues.
The Mayor invited the council to the ribbon cutting ceremony for phase 2 of the
Greenway Trail. The ceremony will be tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
There will be a tree planting at the Shooting Range on Monday, December 17th at
2:00 PM to celebrate Arbor Day.
Mayor Elumbaugh congratulated the Batesville High School football team for
their runners-up in the 5A State Championship. He also congratulated BHS football
Coach Dave King for being named 5A Coach of the Year.
The Mayor made mention of the spectacular Christmas light display at Riverside
Park and Main Street. He recognized Landscape Supervisor Johnny Abbott for a great
job by him and his crew. He said the Christmas parade was also very good and was
well attended by the public.
The Mayor said because the next scheduled meeting will fall on Christmas day,
he would like to move the meeting to next Tuesday, December 18th. Because of a
conflict the meeting will be begin at 4:45.
LIAISON REPORTS
