After a discussion, the council said they <br /> would consider the request after reviewing the budget at the end of June. <br /> D) HEAR FIRST QUARTER REPORT FROM CHIEF GLEGHORN <br /> Fire Chief Brent Gleghorn addressed the council with his department's first <br /> quarter report. Chief Gleghorn also asked the council to approve out of state <br /> travel for two firemen to attend fire training in Wisconsin. The training is free and <br /> the travel expenses will be paid out of Act 833 funds. Councilmember Matthews <br /> moved to approve the out of state travel and Councilmember Bryant seconded. <br /> All voted for. Also, Chief Gleghorn asked for out of state approval to go to South <br /> Dakota to pick up the new fire truck. Councilmember Matthews so moved and <br /> Councilmember Bryant seconded. All voted for. <br /> E) REQUEST FROM AIRPORT COMMISSION <br /> Airport Commissioners Charles Barnett and Karl Kemp addressed the council <br /> regarding an upcoming airport improvement. Mr. Kemp told the council that the <br /> proposed improvement has been in the works for about 4 years and is estimated <br /> to cost $2.6 million dollars. It is a runway safety grant to improve the west end of <br /> the runway by building up the land so there is a gradual slope rather than the <br /> drop-off that is currently there and also install a 7 foot chain link fence. Until <br /> about 6 weeks ago, the commission thought the entire project would be paid for <br /> with the Federal Government paying for 95% and the State 5%. They have been <br /> notified that because of budget cuts, the Federal Government is only going to <br /> fund 90% which would leave the airport owing approximately $130,000.00. The <br />
