MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> AUGUST 14, 2001 <br /> The Batesville City Council met in regular session on August 14, at 5:30 PM at <br /> the Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. Councilmember <br /> Ford gave the invocation. Upon roll call the following Councilmembers answered <br /> present: Dana Bone, Jim Cargill, R.L. Carpenter, Robert Ford, Gerald Gaither, Jim <br /> Mitchum, Jerry Pectol and Jim Watkins. Also present were the City Clerk Denise <br /> Johnston and the City Attorney Scott Stalker. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the last meeting. <br /> Councilmember Cargill seconded and all voted for. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda. Councilmember <br /> Gaither seconded and all voted for. <br /> SHERIFF'S REPORT <br /> Sheriff Dan Johnson gave the council the Departmental Activity and Status <br /> Report for July, 2001. <br /> CONSIDERATION OF ANNEXING UACCB PROPERTY BY PETITION <br /> Councilmember Ford introduced an ordinance that would accept the annexation of <br /> certain land belonging to the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville to <br /> the City of Batesville. Dr. Jack Lassiter, Chancellor of UACCB was present to answer <br /> questions from the council. The proposed property consists of 25.14 acres and attaches to <br /> the east border of the original campus. Mayor Biard read the ordinance for the first <br /> reading. A full property description was included in the ordinance. Councilmember Ford <br /> moved to suspend the rules and place the ordinance on the second reading. <br /> Councilmember Bone seconded and the roll call count was 8 for and 0 against. The <br />
