MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> SEPTEMBER 24, 2002 <br /> The Batesville City Council met in regular session on September 24, at 5:30 PM at the Municipal <br /> Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. Councilmember Ford gave the invocation. Upon <br /> roll call the following Councilmembers answered present: Jim Cargill, R.L. Carpenter, Robert Ford, <br /> Gerald Gaither, Jerry Pectol, Paula Terrell and Jim Watkins. Councilmember Jim Mitchum was absent. <br /> Also present were the City Clerk Denise Johnston and the City Attorney Scott Stalker. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the last meeting. Councilmember <br /> Cargill seconded and all voted for. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda as amended. Councilmember Terrell <br /> seconded and all voted for. <br /> CONSIDER A RESOLUTION FOR AIRPORT TO ACCEPT GRANT OFFER <br /> Councilmember Watkins introduced and Mayor Biard read a resolution authorizing the Mayor and <br /> the City Attorney to sign a grant offer agreement for improvements to the Batesville Regional Airport. <br /> Airport manager Mary Amos said that the FAA is requiring the airport to update its safety plan. They <br /> recommended them to broaden their current safety zone, which would require the airport to purchase 13 <br /> acres of land. Mrs. Amos said that there was 22 acres for sale, which the airport commission made an <br /> offer on, but the offer was not accepted. The commission will now have to decide on another offer. Mrs. <br /> Amos said the resolution is needed to receive a grant from the FAA to purchase the land needed to make <br /> the improvements. Councilmember Watkins moved to adopt the resolution and Councilmember <br /> Carpenter seconded. All voted for. The resolution number is 2002-9-1-R. <br /> CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE INTERLOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT <br /> AGREEMENT. <br /> Councilmember Cargill introduced an ordinance that would amend the Interlocal Law <br /> Enforcement Agreement. The Interlocal Law Committee met on September 12, and recommended the <br /> change. The change is in section F and only changes the wording regarding the fuel used by the metro <br />
