City Engineer Damon Johnson addressed the council with his monthly report. Mr. <br /> Johnson said he didn't have much to report from the last meeting. He reported that <br /> several streets were paved last week. When asked by Councilmember Krug about the <br /> delivery of our one arm sanitation truck, Mr. Johnson said he is expecting it any day. <br /> C) CONSIDER TWO REQUESTS FOR WATER SERVICE OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS <br /> Utility Office Manager Nick Baxter addressed the council regarding water service <br /> outside the city limits. Ms. Maisie Stubbs joined Mr. Baxter. Ms. Stubbs and her <br /> husband Rodney live at 90 Mitchell Road and are requesting a water meter from the <br /> city. The Stubbs signed the required forms for the request. Councilmember T. Bryant <br /> moved to approve the request and Councilmember Fredricks seconded. All voted for. <br /> The second request was for Bobby Dugger on 260 Mitchell Road. Mr. Dugger also <br /> signed all required forms. Councilmember T. Bryant moved to approve the request <br /> and Councilmember Poole seconded. All voted for. <br /> D) HEAR A TOURISM UPDATE FROM MR. KYLE CHRISTOPHER <br /> Mr. Kyle Christopher, Tourism Director for the Batesville Chamber of Commerce, <br /> addressed the council with a tourism update. Mr. Christopher said since the inception <br /> of the Advertising and Promotion Tax nearly two years ago, Batesville and <br /> Independence County have gone from virtually none existent in the tourism world to <br /> being recognized in Statewide publications and on radio and tv. He said to date the <br /> A&P Commission has granted $11,000.00 in event grants to organizations that have <br /> hosted in events in Batesville. That equals 550 total hotel stays within the city limits of <br /> Batesville. Four new Wayfinding signs are set to be installed this summer. The Coca- <br /> Cola mural is now complete and Mr. Christopher thanked the city for their help in <br /> flagging traffic so the workers could use a lift truck for the project. Councilmember <br /> Matthews said this mural is the oldest Coca-Cola mural in the country and it took a lot <br />
